The JumpCamp season is officially wrapped up and it’s going to go down in the history books as one of the best ever.

Forbidden Plateau had a whopping 700cm snow base and campers enjoyed riding more powder than hardpack during the camps. “We had crazy snow this year and lots of campers took advantage of it. The snowpack made it ideal for jumping and learning new tricks,” said coach Olaf Larsen.

JumpCamp is a snowboard camp on Forbidden Plateau for snowboarders of all ages and abilities who want to progress their skills, especially in the park and backcountry. Aside from a great snow season and camps full of excited shredders, JumpCamp was also involved in some big Vancouver Island snowboard articles.

Transworld Snowboarding magazine, the most widely-subscribed snowboard magazine in the world, came here to do a story and the JumpCamp crew made sure to show them their favourite spots. “We’re really stoked that these magazines call us when they’re doing an Island article or photoshoot,” said coach Patrick Kitto. “We know the best spots around here and it’s cool that they listen to the true locals.” The article can be seen in the Volume 24/December 2010 winter issue of Transworld Snowboarding magazine.

Also in February the JumpCamp crew was part of a Snowboard Canada magazine article that took photographers, writers and pro snowboarders on a tour of the Island through some of the deepest snow ever. Keep an eye out for the article to be coming out soon.

Going on a decade, JumpCamp would like to give a big thanks to local sponsors; Onethirtythree, Valhalla Pure, Thrifty Foods, Yummies & Gyros, The Green Room, Boardwalk and EpicBoardSkins for their continued support over the years. “It wouldn’t happen without these guys,” coach Kitto added. “Go support the companies that support snowboarding.”
