Junior A Timbermen lose close game

The city’s B.C. Junior A Lacrosse League club was beaten 12-10 by the Burnaby Lakers on Saturday at Frank Crane Arena.

The junior A Nanaimo Timbermen battled for three periods, but ended up with a loss and fell to last place in the league.

The junior Timbermen tied the score four times in the third period, but penalty troubles prevented them from sustaining pressure.

McLean Chicquen scored four goals to lead the offence and Jake Latin, Alec Molander, Chase Anderson, Jake Mickelson, Mike D’Amario and Darrin Wilson were the other scorers. Cody Clark finished with four assists. Nanaimo outshot Burnaby 54-45 in the contest.

The next day, the T-men visited the New Westminster Salmonbellies and lost 10-6.

Chicquen scored a hat trick in that one, Connor Leies had a goal and two assists and D’Amario and Clark were other scorers.

GAME ON … The junior T-men play the Langley Thunder on Saturday (June 25) at 2 p.m. at Frank Crane Arena.
