Langley U16 baseball team tosses pair of shutout victories over Victoria

The Langley Junior Blaze tossed a pair of shutout victories over the visiting Victoria Junior Eagles on Saturday at McLeod Park.

The Blaze won 6-0 in the first game and 11-0 in the second, holding their opponents to a combined five hits over the two games.

Langley improved to 19-2 on the season.

The first game was actually a one-run game for much of the contest before Langley scored five times in the bottom of the sixth to break things open.

Nick Evans finished with a complete game shutout, allowing just two hits and one walk while striking out seven.

Nick Laflamme, Shayne Clarke, Thomas Sloan and Devon Bird each drove in one run.

The second game saw Langley score early and often as they potted three runs in the first and another four in the second.

Dominic Baptista led the offence with three RBIs while Clarke drove in another pair.

Danny Hollins, Dayton Wilson, Preston Logan, Laflamme and Sloan had one RBI apiece.

Dakota Currie earned the win, pitching four innings of two-hit ball.

The Blaze are in Victoria on June 8 for a doubleheader against the Junior Mariners.
