The Junior Golds rugby team sliced through the Pleasant Valley Secondary defence like a hot knife through butter for an impressive 56-0 win last week. SAS came storming out of the gates against the smaller weaker PVSS team.
In his first rugby match, Cam Roberge crashed through the PVSS team in the opening three minutes of play to score the games first try.
Gabe Wallace left a trail of bodies in his path scoring tries as did Alex Muir.
Multi-talented Montana Lavender stepped up his game to score under the post from playing scrum half, and Trystan Kenoras scored at will, for four tries.
The junior Golds will host Kelowna-side, Mount Boucherie this afternoon at 3:30 p.m. at the Jackson campus.
Senior Golds
In a reversal of roles from last week, the senior Golds found themselves on the losing end against Kelowna Secondary.
The KSS team came out with force in a fast paced game that SAS couldn’t keep up with. Their next game is April 21 against Mount Boucherie 4:30 p.m. at Jackson.
Jewels
In a messy game against Merritt, the Jewels held on to win 20-5 on the road.
The Jewels held their calm and picked their opponents apart slowly.
Krystine Hamre put in a solid performance, leading the team along with her back line of Avia Latosky and Reign Lee.
In the forward pack Sage Lee and Brittany Burt did and incredible job in tackling.
Working off the back of the rucks was scrum half Nadine Johnson pitching it to Serena Boehme and Mandie Schwandt on the flank.
The Jewels travel to Penticton this afternoon to truly test their skills as they have an eye on provincials.
