The Langley Junior Thunder broke into the win column for the first time this season with an 8-6 victory over the Delta Islanders on Saturday (May 10) night.
Unfortunately, the Thunder could not build on that success, losing 13-4 the next day to the Victoria Junior Shamrocks.
The weekend results leave Langley with a 1-5 mark in the B.C. Junior A Lacrosse League.
On the road at Delta’s Sungod Arena, the Thunder erases an early 2-0 deficit to score eight of the final 12 goals.
James Rahe (three goals, three assists) and Brett Dobray (three goals) led the way offensively. Tyler Rutherford (one goal, three assists) and Alex Gibbs (one goal, two assists) had the other goals and Willliam Vanden Hooven chipped in with three assists.
Steven Mayervich made 40 saves for the victory.
Sunday’s game against Victoria, which was played at the George Preston Recreation Centre, saw Langley jump out to a 2-0 lead but the Shamrocks raced back to win 13-4.
Dobray scored a pair, while Gibbs and Brendan Mykle-Winkler had the others.
The Thunder are back in action on Thursday (May 15) when they host the Coquitlam Junior Adanacs (4-0-1) at the Langley Events Centre. Game time is 8 p.m.
