The Langley Junior Thunder managed a split over the weekend, edging the Port Coquitlam Saints 8-7 before dropping an 8-5 decision to the Victoria Shamrocks.
The results give Langley a record of 6-9 in the B.C. Junior A Lacrosse League as the season hits the stretch drive.
In Friday’s victory over the Saints at the Poco Rec Centre, Connor McNeill and Dylan Lacroix scored goals three minutes apart in the latter stages of the third period to break a 6-6 tie. The Saints would get one back but that would be it as the Thunder held on for the one-goal win.
Lacroix led the offence with two goals while Andrew Gresham (one goal, three assists) and Nathan Mckeigan (one goal, two assists) helped pace the offensive attack.
Mitch McDole (one goal, one assist), Cody Teichroeb (one goal) and Trevor Chernoff (one goal) had the other Langley scores.
In goal, Torin Vanrheenen stopped 44 of 51 shots.
And against Victoria the next day at the Langley Events Centre, the teams were tied in the third period but the Shamrocks scored four of the final six goals to win 8-5.
Lacroix and Gresham had two goals apiece for Langley while McNeill had one.
The Thunder are back in action when they host the Delta Islanders on June 23 at the LEC. Game time is 8 p.m.
