The Langley Junior Thunder fell short in their quest to grab a share of first place in the B.C. Junior A Lacrosse League.
The Thunder fell 12-8 to the Coquitlam Junior Adanacs on Wednesday night at the Coquitlam Sports Centre.
The win improved Coquitlam to 7-3 and puts them among the four teams all with 14 points. Langley fell to 6-3 and sits in fifth place with a dozen points. The Thunder do have multiple games in hand on all four teams ahead of them.
In the game against Coquitlam, the Thunder fell behind 4-1 after the first period and could not recover.
Langley did get to within a goal in the second period but that was as close as they would get.
Brett Dobray (three goals, two assists) and Reegan Comeault (one goal, four assists) led Langley with five points apiece while Sean Lundstrom netted a hat trick. This comes on the heels of a five-goal, nine-point performance the game before.
Johnny Pearson, with a goal and two helpers, had the other Langley goal while William Vanden Hooven, Adam Will, Matt Messenger, Brendan Mykle-Winkler, Alex Margetson and Dylan Quinn had one assist apiece.
The Thunder will not have much time to dwell on the loss as they host the Delta Islanders on June 6 at the Langley Events Centre. Game time is 8 p.m.
