The Langley Junior Thunder have their backs against the walls as they now face elimination.
The Thunder are down 2-0 in their best-of-five B.C. Junior A Lacrosse League semifinal series to the New Westminster Junior Salmonbellies.
The ’Bellies won 9-5 on Thursday (July 18) at Langley Events Centre. They had won game one 12-6 two nights earlier at Queen’s Park Arena.
Game three of the series is July 23 back at Queen’s Park Arena.
Much like game one, New West took control in the opening 20 minutes, building a 4-1 lead and never looking back. Langley would cut the deficit to
two goals midway through the second period, but the ’Bellies scored twice later in the period for an 8-4 lead after two.
Both teams scored once in the third.
The Thunder did outshoot New West 48-41, including 19-6 in the third period, but managed just the five goals.
Sean Lundstrom led the Langley attack with a pair of goals, while Brett Dobray, Brendan Kidd and Spencer Evans had one apiece.
