Junior Thunder win third straight

Nine points from Ryan Martel leads Langley to victory

Four goals apiece from Ryan Martel and Mitch McDole helped the Langley Junior Thunder win a third straight game.

Martel also had five assists while McDole had two helpers in the Thunder’s 15-7 victory over the Delta Islanders on Thursday night at the Langley Events Centre in BC Junior A Lacrosse League action.

Langley improved to 11-8-0 with two games to play in the regular season.

The Thunder raced out to a 4-1 lead after 20 minutes and never looked back.

Mackenzie Rope also had a big game with two goals and six points while Trevor Chernoff had one goal and three assists and Connor Watson chipped in with a pair of goals. Mason Hicks and Quinn McKitrick each had a goal.

Jake Sundar made 37 saves for the win.

The Thunder are in a race for third place in the league and hold a two-point cushion on Victoria and four points on the Saints.

Langley closes the regular season with games on June 30 in Port Coquitlam and then July 8 at home against Nanaimo.

Kozevnikov honoured

On Wednesday, Langley’s Nathaniel Kozevnikov was named the BCJALL’s first star of the week for the previous week.

Kozevnikov had 10 goals and one assist, including seven in one game alone.
