It’s football rivalry month in Nanaimo.
The high school programs from John Barsby and Nanaimo District secondary schools meet twice in October, starting with a game between the junior varsity teams on Thursday (Oct. 6).
The winner will assume first place in the Island Division.
With Barsby’s program headed by Rob Stevenson and NDSS’ program headed by Nate Stevenson, there will be some family bragging rights at stake.
“It’s close enough to Thanksgiving to bet a turkey leg on it,” said Rob.
GAME ON … Thursday’s game is at 3:15 p.m. at NDSS field … The AA varsity teams from Barsby and NDSS will meet Oct. 21 for the Kocher Classic game. That one will be a 6 p.m. kickoff at Merle Logan Field.
