It wasn’t their best lacrosse, but it was enough to set a record.
The junior A T-men defeated the Burnaby Lakers 11-7 on Saturday at Frank Crane Arena and then went to the mainland the next day and tied the Port Coquitlam Saints 10-10.
Saturday’s win gave Nanaimo its first four-game win streak in its 10-year club history, and though the win streak ended the next day, the team’s current five-game undefeated streak is another franchise best.
In Saturday’s win, Brett Hawrys had four goals and two assists and Dane Sorensen scored a hat trick. Corey Shires, Cody Short, Travis Mickelson and Cole Kryworuchka also scored and Pete Dubenski made 48 saves for the win.
The next day Sorensen had another hat trick and Andrew Miller tallied twice. Shires had a goal and five helpers and Jeremy Roe, Mickelson, Hawrys and Kryworuchka were other scorers.
GAME ON … The T-men (4-3-1) play the first-placed Coquitlam Adanacs (6-0-1) on Saturday (May 31) at 5 p.m. at Parksville’s Oceanside Place.
