The junior A Nanaimo Timbermen aren’t playoff-bound, but certain guys from that team were traded to playoff-bound teams. The city’s B.C. Junior A Lacrosse League club was active at the trade deadline, moving four players.
Team captain Darrin Wilson was the most notable name traded, sent to the New Westminster Salmonbellies as the future considerations of a prior transaction.
“It’s to give Darrin an opportunity – we’re not going to make the playoffs, obviously,” said Chris Bowman, team president. “We try to do that for our third-year players, to reward them, but also selfishly for us, we always get picks back in these deals and that helps us grow going forward.”
Ryan Lewis was shipped to the Delta Islanders, Connor Leies was traded to the Brampton Excelsiors and Luke Lehtimaki was dealt to the Okotoks Raiders. The T-men received future considerations in all three trades.
