Karate athletes to compete at provincials

The Taneda Karate Dojo will be competing at the B.C. Provincial tournament on May 28 and 29 in Richmond.

There are 26 athletes in total. Six of these competitors are from Summerland they are all competing in the Kumite and Kata competitions.

Rita Becker, is a green belt with a black stripe, is competing in the women’s masters division.

Micka Becker, also a green belt with a black stripe, is competing in the ages 14-15 division,.

Takeshi Smith, a blue belt, is competing in the ages 15-16 division.

Kevin Taylor, an orange belt and is competing in the adult division.

Caitlyn Riddle, a green belt with a black stripe, will be competing in elite division to become a part of team B.C. at age 12.

Tavian Gauduso, a green belt with a black stripe, is competing in the ages 10-11 division.

Alex Wensley, a  yellow belt, will be competing in the ages 15-16 division.

Jacob Slizek, a blue belt, is competing in the 14-16 elite division.

Simonka Slizek, a brown belt, is competing in the 16-17 elite division.
