The Chilliwack Basketball Club is eager to get players back on the basketball court, and seven players participated in the club’s first-ever Girls Outdoor Skills and Mentorship Program on June 3.
Guided by coach Kayli Sartori with help from Sophie Klassen, the players went through a no-contact physically-distant 90 minute skills session followed by a fire pit discussion.
The topic, what it’s like to be a female player in today’s game and what it takes to get to the next level.
Both coaches are qualified to talk about those things.

After starring at W.J. Mouat secondary and then the University of the Fraser Valley, Sartori played professionally in Europe, while Klassen, a Sardis secondary grad, is currently a guard/forward with Simon Fraser University.
“Kayli is the perfect coach to lead this program as she grew up in Chilliwack and made a name for herself in B.C., Canada and around the world with a high work ethic and skill level throughout her playing career,” said Chilliwack Basketball Club head coach Kyle Graves. “She is a role model for our players and as a coach has a perfect balance of pushing her players hard while making practices fun and energetic and building relationships with her players.”
Another outdoor session for girls in Grades 10-12 is coming up.
