This year’s Kelowna Major Men’s Fastball tournament will have added meaning for the players that hit the field.
Named in honour of the late Andre Blanleil Sr., this year’s 4th annual event will honour Andre Senior’s late wife Eileen Blanleil, who passed away in April of this year.
“Eileen was known as Granny by many around the ball park, you would always know she was in attendance with her bell and booming voice,” said organizer Kyle Blanleil.
The Andre Blanleil Senior Memorial Fastball Tournament will begin this Friday night at King Stadium. There are six teams confirmed including two local teams: The host Andre’s Athletics and the Kelowna Rangers will be joined by the HD Parts Bombers (Kamloops), Segwyits (Chase), Abbotsford, and the defending Champion Fleetwood Marlins.
Games start on Friday night at 8 p.m. and run all day Saturday, three games Sunday with the final at 1 p.m.
Admission is $5 at the door.
On Friday night at 7:45 there will be a tribute to Andre Sr’s late wife Eileen Blanleil who passed away April 26, 2016.
