Lions win three games Saturday in Kamloops to capture the provincial junior bantam football title.

The  Mission Lions are the B.C. junior bantam football champions for 2016.

The Lions edged Prince George 8-7 Saturday in the provincial finale in Kamloops.

In a unique, if not controversial format, Kelowna opened the championship playing two 15-minute halves against Prince George and emerging with a 24-0 win.

In their second game, using the same format, the Lions defeated Richmond 32-6.

PG then defeated Richmond in a shootout game to advance against Kelowna.

In the final, Prince George took a 7-0 lead, but the Lions came back with a touchdown and a two-points conversion to score the 8-7 victory.

The Lions, led by head coach Kendall Gross, finished the season unbeaten at 16-0.
