Kermode’s hit thrilling shot in Abbotsford tournament

Terrace B.C. Kermode boys earned an exhilarating win in one of many tight games in the Robert Bateman Tournament last week.

The Kermode senior boys basketball team from Caledonia Secondary School clinched an exhilarating win against the Willington team from Nanaimo in the Abbotsford Robert Bateman Tournament last week, Jan. 18-21.

Terrace Kermode’s were up one point in the last minute of the game, but Wellington grabbed a turnover opportunity and ran with it, scoring to put them up 66-65.

That meant the Kermode’s were down one point, and there was less than five seconds on the clock.

Not cracking under pressure, the boys executed a final attack to perfection.

In those last three seconds, Jalen Holland launched a beautiful three-pointer, which swished through the basket to earn the team a 68-66 victory.

The long four-day tournament was filled with intense games, ending with a battle for fifth place on Saturday night.
