The Kermode senior boys basketball team from Caledonia Secondary School clinched an exhilarating win against the Willington team from Nanaimo in the Abbotsford Robert Bateman Tournament last week, Jan. 18-21.
Terrace Kermode’s were up one point in the last minute of the game, but Wellington grabbed a turnover opportunity and ran with it, scoring to put them up 66-65.
That meant the Kermode’s were down one point, and there was less than five seconds on the clock.
Not cracking under pressure, the boys executed a final attack to perfection.
In those last three seconds, Jalen Holland launched a beautiful three-pointer, which swished through the basket to earn the team a 68-66 victory.
The long four-day tournament was filled with intense games, ending with a battle for fifth place on Saturday night.
