Kevin Wall’s five-point night earns him BCHL Player of the Week award

Chilliwack Chiefs teammates Matt Holmes and Skyler Brind'Amour earned honourable mentions.

Kevin Wall starts this week at the stop of the BCHL scoring-leader list after a huge game Sunday afternoon against Alberni Valley, and he’s just been named the league’s Player of the Week for the period ending Nov. 4.

Hosting the Bulldogs at Prospera Centre, Wall’s Chilliwack Chiefs skated off with a 7-4 win. Wall had five points including two goals and is now tied with Victoria’s Alex Newhook for the BCHL points lead.

Wall’s 19 goals have him tops in that category, three ahead of Prince George sniper Ben Brar.

Wall wasn’t the only Chief to have a big game. Matt Holmes collected five assists and Skyler Brind’Amour produced two goals and two helpers.

Both earned honourable mention status for the BCHL POW award.

Carter Wilkie, Cole Donhauser and Alexander Marrocco also scored for Chilliwack against an overmatched opponent.

The Chiefs out-shot AV 44-27.

The Dawgs got two goals from Keaton Mastrodonato and singles from Mitch Deelstra and ex-Chief Ryan Miotto.

Nolan Hildebrand got the start in goal for Chilliwack.

The Chiefs came out of the weekend with two wins in three games.

Chilliwack beat the Langley Rivermen by a 3-2 count Friday night in Langley and dropped an ugly 4-3 home-ice decision to the Salmon Arm Silverbacks Saturday.

The Chiefs improved their league-leading record to 17-7-0-0. Their 34 points puts them five ahead of Prince George and Coquitlam in the Mainland division standings.

Those two teams plus the Victoria Grizzlies are tied for second overall in the league standings.

After playing six games in the last 10 days and a league-high 24 games overall, the Chiefs finally have a break in the standings.

They don’t play again until next Monday (Nov. 12) when they visit the Surrey Eagles.

Their next three are on the road as they visit Powell River (Nov. 17) and Alberni Valley (Nov. 18) before returning home to host Langley on Nov. 21.
