Danny Keyes was the top finisher among 38 locals who took part in the Vancouver Sun Run April 22. Billed as the largest 10k in Canada, the event draws about 40,000 runners each year.
Keyes placed third in his age category in a time of 38:17. Hot on his heels was Brian Stewart, who placed seventh in the same category. Rob Kelly ran 39:02 to place eighth in his category. Another excellent result was posted by Wayne Crowe, who just missed the podium, placing fourth in a time of 41:01.
Graham Forsyth had an exceptional performance, finishing in 38:37. It’s even more impressive considering Forsyth ran the Diez Vista 100k running race April 14, where he placed fifth overall and won his age category.
The top local woman in Vancouver was Aislinn Deenihan, who ran 41:11 for a new personal best time.
Two local mother-daughter duos completed the Sun Run. Nicole and Wendy Borer finished in 1:30. And Heather and Susan Ptak finished in 1:40.

For those inclined to trails, the Cumby trail run in Cumberland is May 12. It has a 13k and a 25k option. This event supports the Cumberland Community Forest Society.
