Kiara Ker may only be 13 years old, but she’s already making a name for herself in the world of basketball.
The Cranbrook native, who currently attends Parkland Middle School, took advantage of an opportunity to try out for the Basketball BC U15 team and will now embark on an exciting journey.
At the ‘Supercamp Tryouts’ held at Trinity Western University in Langley, BC, Ker played alongside the 50 best girls in her age group and found out soon afterward that she was one of only 12 players to make the cut.
As a member of the 2017 U15 BC Girls basketball team, Ker will represent the province at the national tournament in Regina, Saskatchewan this July along with other tournaments with the squad.
Ker is expected to make at least 10 trips to Vancouver before nationals and will also represent the team in competition in Renton, Washington and Portland, Oregon.
As a fundraising effort for her travels, Ker is teaming up with the bakery at Fort Steele starting on May 2. Ker asks that if you would like to buy baked goods from her or donate to help cover her expenses, to get in touch by calling 250-421-9994.
