KIJHL: Border Bruins advance to division final after knocking out Castlegar

The Bruins crushed the Castlegar Rebels 6-1 on Tuesday night at home to win their best of 7 series.

The Bruins crushed the Castlegar Rebels 6-1 on Tuesday night at home to win their best of 7 series four games to two. The win means Grand Forks will advance to the division final against the Beaver Valley Nitehawks.

Austin Dean scored his first of two at 18:28 of the first period assisted by Logan Hascarl and Trey Mason. The Rebels tied the game up 1-1 at 12:39 of the second.

It was all Grand Forks in the third period as they dominated play and scored five unanswered goals to put the game away. Scoring for the Bruins in that final period were Bryson Yee, Shayne Pluto, Garret Brisebois, Logan Casavant and Dean with his second.

Anthony Galliart was solid in goal once again stopping 29 of 30 Rebel shots.

The Neil Murdoch Division final begins on Friday, March 4 in Beaver Valley and continues the following day there. The series comes to Grand Forks on Tuesday and Wednesday, March 8 and 9 for games three and four of the best of seven.
