Dale Howell scored with 33 seconds left in double overtime as the Nelson Leafs edged the Beaver Valley Nitehawks 3-2 on Friday.
Colum McGauley and David Lenzin also scored for the Leafs (4-3-1), who rallied from a 2-0 deficit in the first period.
Devin Allen, who the Leafs signed prior to the game after he was cut from a Junior A team in Alberta, stopped 31 shots in his debut with No. 1 starter Jason Sandhu sidelined by injury.
Nolan Percival and Blake Sidoni opened the game with a goal apiece for the Nitehawks (4-3-2), while Talon Kramer finished with 21 saves in net.
The Leafs next visit Beaver Valley on Friday before hosting the Castlegar Rebels on Saturday.
