The Nelson Leafs continue their winning streak and got a bit of pay back when they beat the Princeton Posse 4-1 tonight. It was their second game against the team but their win was a better result than the lose they suffered earlier in the season.
The game was heavy with penalties (reaching double digits in the first two periods) yet there were no goals scored until Leaf Tyler Garcia put his team on the board with a goal in the last eight seconds of the first.
The second was a flurry of scoring with a goal by Leaf Austin Lindsay, which was soon returned by Posse Morton Johnston bringing the score to 2-1.
Next on the board was Leaf Brendan Smith, who scored on a power play. The action continued on the ice and Smith was ejected from the game for fighting immediately after.
Leaf Kyle Chernenkoff scored the fourth and final goal of the game in the final 23 seconds of the second.
In the end the Leafs had out shot Princeton 45-25.
The Leafs travel to the Okanagan next weekend to face the North Okanagan Knights on Friday and the Kelowna Chiefs Saturday.
