Kim, Herbert lead medal haul

Langley Olympians Swim Club members combine to win 10 gold, eight silver and eight bronze medals at Victoria meet

Joshua Kim and Bailey Herbert each picked up four gold medals as the Langley Olympians had a great showing at the Pacific Coast Swimming Christmas Cracker Invitational.

The meet was Dec. 2 to 4 in Victoria and featured 800 swimmers from across the Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island, Alberta and Washington state.

The Langley contingent combined for 10 gold, eight silver and eight bronze medals.

Kim was tops in the 200 freestyle, 200 individual medley and both the 100 and 200 breaststroke events. He was also second in the 50 and 100 freestyle and 400 individual medley.

Herbert won gold in the 200 and 400 individual medley events and the 100 and 200 breaststroke events. She was also second in the 200 butterfly and third in the 100 and 200 freestyle.

Luke Stewart-Beinder in the 400 freestyle and Danika Bedard in the 800 freestyle also captured top spot. Stewart-Beinder also won a pair of silver medals (200 freestyle and 1500 freestyle) and a bronze (400 IM) while Bedard took bronze in the 400 freestyle.

Sarah Buckingham won silver in the 200 breaststroke and bronze in the 800 freestyle.

Other medallists included: Brooklyn Swaan silver (800 freestyle); John Park bronze (1500 freestyle); Piyush Kaul bronze (200 backstroke) and Brayden Herbert bronze (200 breaststroke).
