It took a playoff, but Sue Kim survived to qualify for this summer’s U.S. Women’s Open.
Kim recovered from an opening round 83 to shoot 71 on the second day at the Royal Oaks Country Club in Vancouver, Wash. on Monday.
Her 71 was the low score for the entire tournament.
Kim, who golfs out of The Redwoods Golf Course, beat Surrey’s Taylor Kim and Oregon’s Kendall Prince in the playoff.
The 20-year-old Kim is currently playing on the LPGA Futures Tour as she works towards earning a full-time spot on the LPGA Tour.
The U.S. Women’s Open runs July 7-10 at the Broadmoor Golf Club in Colorado Springs, Colo.
