Kitimat’s Jennifer Knott recently won the Elsie MacKenzie Youth/Junior Curling Award from Curl BC for her work with the Hirsch Creek Golf and Winter Club junior curlers.
Each year Curl BC celebrates those who have made outstanding contributions to curling in BC. Knott has helped several junior teams compete successfully at the provincial level (high schools and winter games, aiming for U18s and juniors in the near future). Knott also participated in several coaching camps in order to be certified to coach junior curlers who want to compete at higher levels.

Knott would like to thank the management at Hirsch Creek Golf and Winter Club, the league members, and the curlers’ parents for their continous support.
She would also like to recognize the other coaches that were involved in the past junior curling season, including Jamie Domries, Susan Dobbin, Dave Durrant, Iain Illing, Sean Greenslade, Ian Baker, Karina Dziuba, Tony Abriel, and Reid Nelson.
“It’s really an award that recognizes the strength of the junior program in Kitimat and, as I said, it is really not me by myself,” Knott said. “It is many hardworking coaches putting in a lot of time.”
