Two Langley collegiate athletes have been recognized for the efforts in the classroom.
Joel Kleingeltink and Cole Briggs were honoured by the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) as national Scholar Award winners.
Kleingeltink plays on the UFV Cascades men’s volleyball team while Briggs is on the men’s golf team.
To earn a Scholar Award, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.5 grade point average.
The fifth-year business student was previously named a CCAA academic all-Canadian in the spring.
The six-foot-four right-side hitter is averaging 4.28 points per set, good for third in the PacWest Conference and tops on UFV. Kleingeltink is averaging 2.97 kills, 0.78 blocks and 0.53 aces per set.
Briggs is in his first season with the Cascades golf team and golfer in two of the team’s four events this fall with a low round of 73.
