Patti Knezevic will be hoping it’s third time lucky this afternoon at the Cloverdale Curling Club.
The Prince George curler will play three-time defending champion Kelly Scott in the final of the BC Scotties provincial women’s curling championship at 2 p.m.
Knezevic has faced Scott twice already in the 10-team tournament, losing 6-4 in a round robin match Thursday morning and dropping an 8-7 decision in a playoff game Friday night.
Friday’s win put Scott into the final, while Knezevic had to come through the back door. Knezevic edged Marla Mallett of the Cloverdale club 8-7 in a semifinal contest Saturday night, scoring once in the 10th end to clinch the victory in a game that saw Mallett lead on three occasions and Knezevic out in front five times.
Mallett qualified for the semifinal by topping Allison MacInnes of the Abbotsford Curling Club earlier in the day, stealing a point in four consecutive ends for a 7-4 victory.
Today’s final will be broadcast live by Shaw TV.
The winner will advance to the Scotties Tournament of Hearts national championship Feb. 16-24 in Kingston, Ontario.
