The North Okanagan Knights traded for big veteran TJ Christensen and promptly named his captain.

Christensen spent three years with the Revelstoke Grizzlies, getting 15 goals, 24 points and 92 penalty minutes last season.

He is a 20-year-old Salmon Arm product.

“We (coaching staff) felt he has been primarily under used by Revy,” said Knights’ head coach Shawn Webb. “He’s about six-four and 220 pounds and has really good skill. We’re looking to play him with Tanner Burns and Blaine Caton and give Blaine some more room out there.”

Christensen and Burns are the lone 20-year-olds with the Knights. The KIJHL allows a maximum five.

Burns, Dryden Profeit and Anthony Ruggiero are the alternate captains.

The Knights face seven straight road games, beginning tonight in Kamloops against the 5-0 Storm.

The Armstrong-based Knights are 3-0-0-1 and first in the Okanagan Division of the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League.

Their scheduled matinee against the Princeton Posse was postponed last Sunday due to a power outage at Nor-Val Sports Centre.

The Knights visit the expansion 100 Mile House Wranglers (3-2) Saturday night.

Next home game for the Knights is Friday, Oct. 18 against the Castlegar Reels.
