In danger of losing their fifth straight game, the Langley Knights rallied from a two-goal deficit with Colin Catchpole scoring the double overtime winner in a 5-4 victory.
The Knights were hosting the Grandview Steelers on Dec. 4 at the George Preston Recreation Centre. And the victory pulled Langley (13-10-1-1) back into a tie for top spot in the PJHL’s Harold Brittain Conference with 28 points.
Dylan McCann scored late in the second period to make the score 4-3 and Blake Gorrill notched the equalizer 7:14 into the third period.
Tristan Craighead and Carson Rose had the other Knights goals. Rose’s tally came with his team playing a man down.
Jackson Wanick, Braeden Gurney, Peter Matthews and Nico Bruno replied for the Steelers.
Grandview led 2-1 after one period and 4-2 at the midway point of the hockey game before the Knights shut the door the rest of the way.
Nickolas Trenciansky stopped 35 saves for the victory.
The Knights go for a second straight victory when they visit the Ridge Meadows Flames on Dec. 5.
