The North Okanagan Knights used a pair of third period goals from call-up Bryce Koch to brush back the host Princeton Posse 4-2 in Kootenay International Junior Hockey League play Friday night at the District Arena.
“He scored two great goals going to the net,” said North Okanagan head coach Sylvain Leone, who brought up Koch from the Kelowna Midget Tier 1 Rockets.
“It was an important win for us. The final two periods were particularly good,” added Leone, crediting his team for generating offence off the forecheck.
The win moved the Knights (18-26-1-1) into a tie with the Sicamous Eagles (16-24-2-4) for third place in the Okanagan/Shuswap Conference’s Doug Birks division.
Both teams have four regular-season games remaining, however North Okanagan will be in tough with two games against the league-leading Osoyoos Coyotes (38-2-2-4), including a matinee today (2 p.m.) at Nor-Val Sports Centre. It is their final regular-season home game.
Kurtis Hagen, late in the first period, and Patrick Chore, early in the second, completed the Knights’ attack.
Chris Hurry was stellar in making 36 saves to earn third star.
