With their first line playing dynamic defence, the North Okanagan Knights are on a major playoff roll.
The Knights shut out the host Summerland Steam 3-0 to take a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven KIJHL series. Game 4 went Saturday night in Armstrong and the fifth game is tonight in Summerland.
A Game 6, if necessary, would go Tuesday night at Nor-Val Sports Centre.
Zach Dyment made 32 saves for the win, but had plenty of help.
“Zachary made the right saves and he made one absolutebeauty when it was 2-0 to really zap them,” said Knights’ head coach Shawn Webb.
“It was team defence that won it for us. Our first line of Logan Geefs, Blake Culbert and Tanner Burns are truly being so sound defensively and everybody else is following.”
Blaine Caton netted the winner early in the second period off the cycle, with TJ Christensen screening monster goalie Darren Hogg. Brett Hawrys made it 2-0 after Ryan Kelm picked off an errant pass, five minutes later.
D-man Ryley Booth added insurance with a point slapper at 7:34 of the third period, on the powerplay.
