For the first time in over a month, the Abbotsford Pilots find themselves looking up at one of their division rivals in the Pacific Junior Hockey League’s Harold Brittain Conference.
That would be the Aldergrove Kodiaks, who knocked the Pilots off their first-place perch last Friday when they won 4-1 at MSA Arena.
The Kodiaks built a 3-0 lead on goals by Roshen Jaswal, Jeremy Lagler and Quinncy Leroux before Jarrett Martin got the hosts on the board with a power-play marker late in the second period. But that was as close as the Pilots would get, and Aldergrove’s Stephen Ryan rounded out the scoring into an empty net.
The Pilots bounced back with an 8-6 road win over the Ridge Meadows Flames on Saturday. Brady Lawlor ignited the offensive explosion with a hat trick plus an assist, while Francis Bamford (one goal, two assists), Ryan Parmar (one goal, two assists) and Martin (three assists) registered three points apiece.
The Pilots (15-6-1, 31 points) still find themselves one point back of the Kodiaks, who have a game in hand. Abbotsford hosts the Port Moody Panthers this Friday (7:30 p.m., MSA Arena).
