The Aldergrove Kodiaks eked out a pair of one-goal victories over the conference’s two bottom teams.
The Kodiaks edged the Mission Icebreakers 4-3 last Wednesday at the Aldergrove Arena and then won 2-1 over the Ridge Meadows Flames on Friday at Maple Ridge’s Planet Ice in junior B Pacific International Junior Hockey League action.
In the first contest, Jordan Pughe ripped home his second of the game, snapping a 3-3 tie, with just over six minutes remaining.
Daniel Higgs and Ryan Veillet had the other Kodiak goals while Brendan Sharp made 38 saves.
And against the Flames, Matt Luongo struck for the winner with just eight seconds to go in regulation.

The Kodiaks improved to 21-7-1-1 and their 44 points give them a four-point lead atop the Harold Brittain Conference.
Aldergrove faces the Delta Ice Hawks at the Ladner Leisure Centre on Jan. 10 and then hosts the Richmond Sockeyes on Jan. 11 at the Aldergrove Arena.
