Vernon Kokanee Swim Club member Meredith Levorson continues to make a splash.
Levorson won nine medals and set five new club records during her competition at the 2015 Swim B.C. Short Course AAA Age Group Championships, and the 2015 Swim B.C. Long Course Senior Open Championships.
At the AAA Age Group finals in Surrey, Levorson won the 100-metre backstroke final with a personal best (PB) time, and new club record, of one minute, 4.43 seconds, and the 200 freestyle with a PB of 2:04.71.
Levorson won silver in the 400 free in 4:26.54 and the 100 free in 57.62. She took bronze in the 200 individual medley with a PB and club record 2:19.14, finished third in the 50 free with a PB and club record of 26.53 and took bronze in the 400 IM with a PB of 4:58.59.
Levorson also established a new club mark and PB in finishing fourth in the 200 back of 2:16.75
At the Long Course Senior Open in Vancouver, Levorson was second in the 50 free with a PB of 27.63, second in the 100 free in 1:00.25, fifth in the 200-free (2:12.89) and 11th in the 400 free consolation final in 4:38.85.
Eleven Kokanee qualified for the Short Course Age Group finals.
In boys multi class, Riley McLean was first in the 150 IM final in 5:08.47 and the 50 breaststroke in 1:47.06. He was third in the 50 back with a PB of 1:05.74, fourth in the 50 butterfly with a PB and new S4 Short Course Canadian record of 1:16.23, and was fifth in the 200 free with a PB of 5:08.20.
McLean will travel to Toronto to compete at the Speedo CanAm Para-Swimming Championships March 20-22. The event will serve as the selection trials for the 2015 Para Pan Am Games and the 2015 IPC Swimming World Championships this summer.
GIRLS 12-13:
Kelsey Fillion, fifth in the 50 free consolation final with a PB of 29.08.
BOYS 12-13:
Matthew Winn, eighth in the 200 fly consolation final in 2:49.41. He swam 100 per cent PBs.
2015 Long Course Senior Open:
BOYS 18 and under:
Zac Benn, seventh in the 200 IM consolation final in 2:29.42.
GIRLS 18 and under:
Kiah Lee, fourth in 50 breast final in 35.19, 10th in the 100 breast consolation final in 1:18.72; Alexandra Shortt, third in the 400 IM consolation final with PB of 5:39.18. Shortt swam 100 per cent PBs. Next up for the club is the 40th Chinook Invitational, April 17-19, in Calgary.
