The Kwalikum Secondary School boys soccer season got off to a rousing start last week, with the senior team pummeling Ladysmith 8-1 Tuesday in Ladysmith and the juniors sweeping Aspengrove 8-0 and Ladysmith 8-2 in a season-opening tournament in Qualicum Beach.
The seniors will host Wellington Secondary of Nanaimo in their home opener today at 3:30 p.m. at the Qualicum Beach rec fields.
“We were able to control the game from the onset,” Kondors coach Butch Gayton said of the seniors’ game last week in Ladysmith. “We scored early and often, but more importantly we moved the ball around and we looked good doing it.”
The junior team also plays at home this week, hosting Ladysmith in a league game Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. at the rec fields behind the Civic Centre.
