It’s been at least 6 years since a boys’ team from the Kootenay South Youth Soccer Association (KSYSA) have attended the annual Provincial playoffs.  Last weekend the playdown tournament was played that determined which team from the East and West Kootenays gets to represent this region in the Provincials.    The KSYSA U13 Boys rep team had to play two games against Nelson to determine those bragging rights.

Both games ended up in a 0 – 0 tie where no goals were scored.  Although these were obviously strong defensive matches, there were many chances for scoring.  Outstanding play by the goaltenders kept these games as shutouts.  The playdowns had to go to a shootout to determine the winner.  Kootenay South won the shootout 2 – 0 and has earned the right to play in Aldergrove.  Teams from all across BC will be there for the Provincials and it’s being played the first weekend of July.
