The Lumby Stars toppled Salmon Arm No Frills 8-3 in North Okanagan Bantam Super Hockey League play Saturday at Pat Duke Memorial Arena.
Tye Krause earned a hat trick and one assist for the Stars, while Linden Catt added 2+1 and singles csme from Kohl Van De Vliert, Peter Romailler and Zachary Young in support of Ethan Keber. Andrew Rannelli earned an assist from the point.
The Stars carry sponsorship from Great West Equipment and Green Velvet Tree & Lawn Care.
The Vernon Five Star Awards Rebels lost 10-4 to the Salmon Arm Audits & Safety Services in North Okanagan Bantam Super Hockey League play Saturday.
Four minutes in, Nikolas Maric found his centre in front with a nifty pass, and Cole Grevatt cashed his own rebound over the goalie’s left pad.
Vernon’s second came late in the middle stanza as Quinn Soon neutralized a Salmon Arm rush and sent Grevatt on the counterattack. Fleet winger Connor Cecchini took Grevatt’s lead pass, and with a grey shirt draped all over him, drilled a low bullet home.
Next, Soon hit Dylan Wapple on the fly, and he blew by the Salmon Arm defence on his off wing and slipped one through the goalie. In the third, Wapple picked up the puck in neutral ice, got on his horse again, and from the top of the circle, let fly a blistering bolt high into the net.
In Midget Girls play, the Lumby Stars tied host Kelowna 1-1 and grounded Penticton 4-2.
Mia Maltman scored unassisted for Lumby as the Stars got solid goaltending from Tyra Cunningham against Kelowna. Shaina Jones, Maltman and Kim Whitelaw were named Lumby’s Game Stars.
Lumby was tied 2-2 with Penticton at Nicola Valley Arena in Merritt when Kalen Webster put the Stars up 3-2 on an assist by Emily Romailler.
Nicolas Magerl scored twice as Talon Benefits Eagles fell 5-4 to Lakeside Printing of Salmon Arm in Midget play. Sapion Joe and Jaxxon Collard added singles.
