Kremler leads Rams past Notre Dame

Mount Douglas tops Jugglers 28-14 in B.C. High School Football action

Stormy weather nearly derailed the Mount Douglas Rams travel plans as the junior and senior football teams rode a rocky boat to Tsawwassen last week.

The trip was worth it, as the junior Rams defeated the Notre Dame Jugglers 28-12 while the senior Rams topped the Jugglers 28-14 at the AAA level.

For the senior team, it’s another win over a perennially strong program in the B.C. High School Football league.

Quarterback Gideone Kremler was outstanding as a Grade 10 in the senior game. He ran in three touchdowns and rushed for a total of 196 yards. Josh Lucas ran in a three-yard touchdown for Mount Doug’s first TD. Kremler also handed it off to Ben Pierik, who rushed for an additional 118 yards of his own.

Isaiah Cardilicchia led the team in tackles with seven, and picked up an interception. Quinn Jenish also had an interception and Ben Pierik had a fumble recovery, as the Rams defence forced three turnovers.

On Friday both Rams junior and senior teams are back on the mainland against the New Westminster Hyacks, while the Tier II Spectrum Thunder visit the Pitt Meadows Marauders.
