Seven straight losses for struggling Vancouver hockey club

Despite a 40-save effort from goaltender Ryan Kubic, the Vancouver Giants could not muster any offensive attack, falling 1-1 to the Everett Silvertips.

The Giants were in Everett on Saturday night at the XFINITY Arena with the Silvertips’ Bradly Goethals scoring the lone goal 6:12 into the second period.

Everett outshot Vancouver 41-21 on the night and the loss was the seventh straight (0-5-1-1) for the struggling Giants.

Vancouver also lost 4-3 in overtime the night before at the Langley Events Centre to the visiting Calgary Hitmen.

The Giants sit at 17-31-2-3 on the Western Hockey League season.

The team is back in action with a pair of midweek games against the B.C. Division-leading Prince George Cougars on Feb. 7 and 8.

Vancouver then plays a home-and-home with the Kelowna Rockets in Kelowna on Feb. 9 and back at the LEC on Feb. 10.
