The Langley All-Stars bats woke up in a big way.

After struggling with scoring the past few games, the All-Stars cranked out 18 runs on 20 hits — including four home runs — as they obliterated Rocky Mountain 18-4 on Wednesday at the Canadian national Little League (11/12) baseball championships at North Vancouver’s Chris Zuehike Memorial Park.

The win gave Langley a 4-1 record through the round-robin and they are the second seed for the playoffs. The loss eliminated the Prairie champions.

They play against the host squad, Mount Seymour, Friday (August 12) at 6 p.m. The other semifinal matches 5-0 Highland (Ontario) against 2-3 Valleyfield (Quebec).

The two winners square off on Saturday at 1 p.m. to see which team will represent Canada at the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa. Saturday’s final will be broadcast live on Sportsnet.

In their round robin finale, the Langley offence woke up in a big way, scoring runs in five of the six innings.

Yi-Fan Pan, Cole Cantelon, Connor McCreath and Riley Ens all had three RBIs, including a home run each, while Ken Dubois drove in a pair and Yi-An Pan had one RBI. Trevor Miller reached base all four times he went up to bat, with two singles, a double and a walk.

Colby Ring, Cantelon, Nick Atkinson and Ian Burns combined to throw a seven-hitter.

All four of Rocky Mountain’s runs came off the bat of Christopher Messer, who hit a pair of two-run home runs.
