There’s something to be said for home ice advantage, just ask the Langley-based Vancouver Giants.
On home ice Tuesday night, at the Langley Events Centre (LEC), they secured their third straight win, beating the Everett Silvertips in overtime 5-4.
The next night, however, the G-Men fell to the same team at the Xfinity Arena in Everett, 4-1.
Jeff Rayman scored the lone goal for the Vancouver Giants, while goalie Ryan Kubic made 30 saves – but it was all a losing cause.
On the scoreboard
Patrick Bajkov gave the Silvertips an early lead, scoring on a one-timer from the left circle at 5:34 of the first period. Graham Millar made it 2-0 later in the period, scoring the eventual winning goal by deflecting an Ian Walker point shot past Kubic.
Eetu Tuulola scored a power play goal early in the second period to give Everett a three-goal lead before Rayman but the G-Men on the board, firing a hard shot past Everett goalie Mario Petit from the slot. It was Rayman’s third goal in the last four games.
Dominic Zwerger added an empty netter for the Silvertips late in the third period.
Everett out shot Vancouver 34-23. The Giants went 0-for-3 on the power play.
