The Fraser Valley Thunderbirds Minor Midget hockey team swept a three-game road trip to Prince George against the Caribou Cougars.

The Birds won Friday 5-4 in an overtime win and won 4-1 on Saturday. With the pressure on the Cougars, Sunday’s game proved a fast paced game with a lot of hitting, and a few Bird players sitting in the penalty box or being ejected from the game.

In the end the Birds won 3-1.

Langley native, Zachary Urquhart had his first hat trick as a Tbird and Nathan Frew, also from Langley, was a second star for Saturday’s game.

The Thunderbirds will see the Cougars again in mid-January.

With a record of 11-3-1-0, the team is now in first place in the BC Minor Midget League, two points ahead of the Okanagan Rockets.

Another Langley native, team captain Liam Tanner, is now the top forward in the entire BC Hockey Minor League with 22 points, seven goals and 15 assists.

Thunderbird goalie Ryan Siteman from Abbotsford is now the top goalie in the BC Minor Midget League with one shutout in 8 games and goals against average of 2.77

Next up is a three-game home series against the Okanagan Rockets starting Friday, Dec. 14, at the Abbotsford Centre
