Much of the first period was spent near the Rivermen’s crease. Despite that, Prince George Spruce Kings were not able to score on the Langley hockey team in that or subsequent periods of play Monday night.
Instead, the Rivermen blanked Prince George 4-0, before a crowd of more than 500 hometown fans at The Lodge (at George Preston Recreation Centre).
The win was credited to McKay Flanagan, Satchel Clendenin, Ryan Barrow, and Max Kaufman who scored the goals. But accolades were also owed to goalie Braedon Fleming, who spent all 60 minutes of the game on the ice, and succeeded in keeping the puck out of his net.
Prince George out shot Langley, 35-21 shots on goal.
Monday’s win comes after losing two games – back to back against the Wenatchee Wild – Friday 10-2 and Saturday 6-1.
The Rivermen were looking for a win at home Monday, and they got it.
Now, they’re gearing up to take Wenatchee again on Thursday and Friday, at home.
