The Langley Rivermen went from jubilation to sadness, all in a period of about a half hour in Wenatchee, Wash., on Sunday.
The Rivermen’s Will Campion tied the score at four goals apiece with eight seconds to go in regulation, during game two of Langley’s best-of-seven playoff series with the Wenatchee Wild.
But the Wild’s Brendan Harris dashed the Rivermen’s hopes of victory – and taking a 2-0 series lead back to Langley – when he scored 9:30 into the first overtime period to lift the Wild to victory.
After a scoreless opening frame, the Wild jumped ahead 2-0 in the second period on goals 1:22 apart from Troy Conzo and Charlie Combs.
The Rivermen owned the third period, outscoring the Wild 3-1 on goals from Adam Sinclair and Campion during the final three minutes of play to tie the game.
Alec Capstick scored Langley’s first goal of the game at the 4:07 mark of the third period.
The Wild outshot the Rivermen 43-30.

Saturday at the Toyota Town Centre, Langley forward Torrin White scored the game-tying and game-winning goals in the third period, as the Rivermen erased a 3-2 lead.
Goals from Matthew Graham and Trevor Ayre staked the Rivermen to a 2-0 advantage going into the first intermission.
The Wild stormed back to tie the game at 2-2 in the second frame on goals from Blake Christensen and Mike Coyne.
Bryan Yoon scored 1:18 into the first period to give the Wild a 3-2 lead.
The ’Men responded quickly to tie the game, with White finding the net at the 3:10 mark.
White then notched the deciding goal with 3:49 remaining in the final frame.
Games three and four of the series are being played this Tuesday and Wednesday (March 8 and 9) at the George Preston Recreation Centre, both with 7 p.m. start times.
Game five is this Friday, March 11 at the GPRC, also starting at 7 p.m.
