Langley Mustangs track and field team member Fiona Benson shook the national track scene Saturday in Victoria, as she quietly leap-frogged to the top of the country’s women’s 800m rankings, in her bid to represent Team Canada at the Pan-American Games.
The 23 year old student from Trinity Western University shocked herself and everyone else with an unprecedented drop of 6.96 seconds from her previous best.
Her previous best was 2:08.54, and Benson won the two-lap speed test in 2:01.58.
