Langley soccer players returned home this week from the provincials brandishing some serious bling.
Langley United Soccer Association’s U15 boys team brought home a gold from the Metro level, while their U17 counterparts brought home silver from Metro.
Meanwhile, the U16 girls division earned a bronze, while the U17 division 1 girls placed fourth.
Langley United Soccer Association – which has players from three years old through adult – sent 68 youth in four teams to the provincials, and all four of the teams played in medal games, said LUSA’s Anne Fronteddu.
“Wonderful representation for Langley at this year’s BC provincial championships,” Fronteddu said.
In the meantime, the association also announced plans – in partnership with the Fraser Valley Metro Selects – to expand the Metro level programming in Langley for the U13 age group.
“This resulted in a new western and eastern-based Fraser Valley Metro program,” Fronteddu said.
This spring, LUSA and the Fraser Valley Selects welcomed the first western-based girls and boys Metro teams at the U13 level, she explained. In their first six weeks of play, the U13 boys Metro team were gold medalists at the Starfire Tournament in Seattle, gold medalists at the SX tournament in Surrey, and silver medalists at the Umbro Cup in South Surrey.
