The ferry ride back to Vancouver Island on Sunday surely saw plenty of celebration as a pair of Island minor lacrosse associations captured gold medals in their respective divisions.
Back home in Langley, the host Thunder team had a bronze medal win to celebrate.
Twenty-four teams were competing in three divisions (A1, A2 and B) at the 2019 Subway-BC Lacrosse Association Minor Box Midget Lacrosse provincial championships that ran from from July 25 to 28 at Langley Events Centre.
Juan de Fuca Whalers (A1), Saanich Tigers (A2) and Burnaby Lakers B) won their respective divisions.
Lakers minor lacrosse association also snagged a bronze medal in the A1 division.
Ridge Meadows Burrards won a pair of silver medals in the A1 and A2 divisions while the Port Coquitlam Saints were runner-up to Burnaby in the B final.
Taking the other two bronze medals were the host team, Langley Thunder (A2), and Prince George Posse (B).
During A2 play, Silver medal winner Ridge Meadows edged out Langley 7-6 Saturday in semifinal action at the main Langley Events Centre facility, putting Langley into the bronze medal game on Sunday morning against the Juan de Fuca Whalers at the LEC fieldhouse.
Thunder bounced back from their semifinal loss with an 8-2 win over the Whalers in the bronze medal game.
Jon Grywacheski, Lleyton Shearon and Bailey Vanichuk led the Thunder with a pair of goals apiece while Jack Margetson and Ben Rathler each scored once.
