The Langley Xtreme ’03 has secured a spot at the provincial championships in Kelowna after taking the silver medal at district play-downs in Abbotsford last weekend.
The tournament was hosted by Abbotsford Minor Fastball Association (AMFA) at Exhibition Park June 15-17.
The Langley U16B girls bantam softball rep team started the weekend playing Abbotsford Outlaws ’03, securing a 13-4 win.
The next game was against the Abbotsford Outlaws ’02 and resulted in a mercy finish of 14-5 in the fifth inning for the Xtreme, which moved them into their final game.
The finals for gold/silver was an exciting game ending in the Xtreme securing silver with a final score of 9-7.
“It was a great win for the Langley Xtreme ’03 U16B Softball Team who are looking forward to finishing off a successful softball season with the Lower Mainland Cup, the Provincial Championships and the Canada Cup Showcase Select Tournament approaching in the coming weeks,” a press release states.
