After scoring the game’s first two goals, the Aldergrove Kodiaks surrendered eight straight in an 8-2 drubbing at the hands of the Richmond Sockeyes.
The two junior B rivals squared off on Oct. 25 at the Richmond Arena.
And the Kodiaks had a great start to the game as they looked for back-to-back wins for the first time since late September.
MacLean Hewitt opened the scoring for the visitors and Stephen Ryan doubled the lead three minutes later with a power-play tally.
But from that point forward, it was all Sockeyes.
Dean Allison cut the lead to 2-1 before the first intermission and then Richmond blew the game wide open with five goals during a 12-minute span in the second period.
Leading the way was Langley’s Daniell Lange as the PIJHL rookie scored twice in that flurry with a power-play goal and a short-handed tally.
Another Langley Minor Hockey product, Danton Heinin
Sam Chichak had the other two goals for the Sockeyes.
Stephen Campbell and Lange, with his hat trick goal, scored late in the third to complete the rout.
The loss drops Aldergrove to 5-8-1-0 on the season while Richmond improved to 11-2-1-0.
The Kodiaks next game is at home on Oct. 31 when they North Vancouver Wolf Pack visit the Aldergrove Arena.
